The Withering Blowhog is an airborne blowhog and a smaller relative of the Puffy Blowhog. When Pikmin are nearby, the Withering Blowhog will unleash a gust of air that knocks Pikmin down and causes their petals to wilt. After blowing air, it will giggle in happiness if Pikmin are affected by the attack. To attack it, several Pikmin, or at least one Purple Pikmin, must be thrown onto its body; the weight will ground the blowhog, momentarily rendering it utterly helpless. When defeated, it decompresses its floatation bladder for a quick escape.

In Pikmin V, the Withering Blowhog behaves as it does in Pikmin 4, as the Puffy Blowhog has also gained a wind burst escape move. While Orange Pikmin are immune to being knocked over by their wind, they will still become leaves.
Notes
Brittany's notes
- “A Withering Blowhog contains a noxious gas within its sac that instantly renders flowers sterile, causing their petals to wilt. As one would imagine, this causes a reduction of pollinating insects in areas in which it lives. Since this is what it feeds on, the species is slowly dying out. Some suggest that it is an evolutionary middleman between the grounded hogs and the Puffy Blowhog, as it contains both of their identifying body parts, and that is why it has such a self-defeating mechanism.”
Olimar's notes
- “Do not allow its smaller size, speed, and bulk compared to the Puffy Blowhog to fool you. Its wind carries a much harsher punishment: reverting your Pikmin's buds and flowers to mere leaves. Avoid battling it with slow Pikmin, as they risk becoming even slower if they can't avoid the wind.”
Louie's notes
- “For a creative challenge, remove the innards and stuff the cavity space however you wish. If done correctly, the two-tone meal will impress exceptionally.”
