Wraith Pikmin are a secret breed of Pikmin appearing in Pikmin: Dimensional Breach that can only be obtained after completing the story. After having beaten Derrick, an earthquake will cause a new area to open up in the Perplexing Tropics. This area requires Winged Pikmin to pull up a clipboard and Blue Pikmin to open up a cave. A single leader must enter with only Blue Pikmin. Upon entering, a Waterwraith will appear and chase the leader. After outrunning it, they take shelter in an area accessible by a sewer grate that's too low for the wraith to roll under. In this area, the Wraith Onion is trapped in a pool of water. After freeing it, it will awaken and eject a single Wraith Pikmin seed.

Wraith Pikmin are the shape of a normal Pikmin but bear a watery, translucent body and have no eyes or defining characteristics other than a stem ending in the traditional leaf, bud, or flower. When commenting on them, rather than the intrigue that they show with most Pikmin, leaders regard Wraith Pikmin with great unease and fear. Thanks to their ghostly presence, Wraith Pikmin are immune to all hazards, get a ×5.0 attack multiplier, and can even destroy illusions like Black Pikmin can. However, their most powerful ability is to open rifts to other dimensions. These rifts have side-quests in randomly generated, maze-like dungeons, adding replay value to the endgame. Not only that but the rifts can be used to summon allies for the leaders depending on which is active:

  • Olimar: summons a squad of up to twenty-five random Bulbmin varieties.
  • Louie: summons up to ten random insects, already charmed as if Louie had whistled them with the King of Bugs upgrade.
  • Shacho: summons a small, friendly mass of golden plasm in the shape of Olimar. This plasm lifeform freely shapeshifts into one of several Elemental Plasms.
  • Sagittarius: summons a small army of various juvenile bulborbs, already charmed as if he had whistled them with the Grub-dog Whisperer upgrade.
  • Libra: summons a friendly Puffy Blowhog.
  • Alph: summons a small swarm of mechanical enemies, all programmed to serve him.
  • Brittany: summons a small swarm of juvenile mawdads.
  • Captain Charlie: summons a small pack of Phosbats.
