The Gilded Water Dumple is a semiaquatic grub-dog appearing in Pikmin 2: New Year. They are a relative of the Water Dumple, as their name would suggest. They may be found on dry land, or in water of any depth, alone or in groups, sitting idly until leaders or Pikmin approach, prompting them to pursue their prey and attempt to bite them upon getting close enough. If those Pikmin or leaders flee its range, the creature will return to its initial position.
Gilded Water Dumple are smaller creatures that are primarily yellow in color with the exception of their plump, red lips. They have a dome-shaped body with rear appendages attached to the base of their backside and a set of gills underneath the body.
Although somewhat resilient to harm, Gilded Water Dumples are still no match for a fairly large group of Pikmin. Swarming is the best tactic to use against them, although when in groups, it is wise to focus on them all at once, throwing at least a few Pikmin onto each of them, if they can not be fought individually.
