Attacks Eats Pikmin

The Vortexive Paimourse is a long, fishlike enemy in Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers. It is black, with grey and red scales on its body, its large eyes are green, each with a cyan iris, and has a large tail fin, and some other fins including pectoral, dorsal, and anal fins. Overall, the Vortexive Paimourse resembles an arapaima.

Aboveground, the Vortexive Paimourse only lives in the secluded, shadowy areas of the Gloomy Mire. Under normal circumstances, it swims about, occasionally trying to eat Wogpoles that pass by. When noticing leaders or Pikmin, it gets excited and swims toward them. The Vortexive Paimourse, true to its name, attacks by opening its mouth and creating a small vortex in the water, directly in front of its agape mouth. Pikmin that get caught in this vortex will be vacuumed into its throat and eaten. It is safest to attack the Vortexive Paimourse from behind with Blue Pikmin. It can be seen as a direct parallel to the Aureate Blinnow, which is small, harmless, and swims away from Pikmin in fear.

Notes

Olimar's notes

From deepwater swamps to bright, brackish estuaries, this member of the elips family has been highly successful in recent years. In spite of this, it lacks any sort of dentation whatsoever, making it seem fairly weak. In order to catch prey, the Vortexive Paimourse has a flexible, folding throat akin to a rubber hose. It pumps water through this throat by rapidly expanding and contracting it, sucking in surrounding water to catch small, aquatic creatures. It grinds up food in a gizzard area, which its throat leads into.

Louie's notes

It's important that you get a Vortexive Paimourse from estuary water, as those that live in straight-up swamps tend to have a fouler taste to them. They taste fairly adequate on their own, but if marinated in Worcestershire sauce, they will have a much more pronounced, delicious flavor.
