Ice gates are elemental obstacles, specifically a type of gate. They radiate extreme cold, which can freeze Pikmin and leaders with a single touch. Only Ice Pikmin can take down these gates, but fire starters will also do the trick.

Ice blockades are a type of barrier in Pikmin X: Deep Freeze that appear only in the Woods of Occlusion and the Crater. These chunks of ice resemble crystal, but are so cold that the area surrounding them is white with frost. Pikmin will freeze upon getting too close, and they are also too sturdy for even Moss Pikmin to demolish. To destroy an ice blockade, a Pikmin has to deploy a wickweed bud next to it. The flames from the wickweed melt the ice blockade and free the way.
