The Tropical Whiskerpillar is a species of whiskerpillar appearing in Pikmin: Neo. They are vivid in color, having a pink head, green whiskers with purple ends, and an orange midsection. They dwell in tropical climates where they forage the humid wastes, searching for food. Like their common relative, the Ravenous Whiskerpillar, Tropical Whiskerpillars are a major agricultural pest as they rapidly consume berries to help them metamorphose into Tropical Stringflies. They are especially dangerous to the Warmwort, as that is their favorite food, meaning being able to harvest the berries and extract the warm juices within is often difficult. Although frail, these creatures can spray a poisonous purple gas from their mouth. This poison is unique as it lingers on the ground, creating a thick, slowing toxic sludge. They are most vulnerable to White Pikmin as they are immune to the sludge they produce and can also destroy it.

Notes

Olimar's notes

These members of the whiskerpillar family have vivid coloration, which they gain from their diet of various berries. It has a gland in its stomach to convert the juices of these berries into a fermented poison to protect itself from predators. This makes them very deadly agricultural pests as a result, as they can easily spread rapidly.

Louie's notes

Inedible, though the colors make for a great dye.
