Story
Prologue
Captain Olimar's Son, Maxwell, or Max. Goes to PNF-404 for his 8th Grade school project, Max tells Olimar that he needs to go to PNF-404 to study creatures on the planet to surprise the teacher and get the Gold award in his creature study class, witch max signed up for. Olimar does not want him to go alone to the planet, as it is very dangerous, so Olimar goes with him to study the creatures.
Plot
Max finds a type of creatures he calls Metallons, witch have a hundreds of subspecies, that lose their shell when growing for a stronger one, these young shells can be used for the project. Olimar finds a good area to fly into after using the radar, he names it the "Project Lands" and lands in the area max calls "The Open Woods" a large, open area within the trees. Olimar finds a Yellow Onion and Yellow Pikmin that spot Max, and run to him. Max was surprised seeing the Pikmin in person, the Pikmin being curious about him, Olimar then walks up to Max and the Pikmin see him, jumping with happiness seeing him, they go behind Olimar following the leader they trust and love. Olimar starts showing max how to lead the Pikmin, and Max learning how to Throw, Whistle, and Charge the Pikmin, Max then finds a shell of a Metallon, trying to pick it up being to heavy, the Pikmin see this and pick it up and take it back to the ship. Olimar than sees how dark it got and him and Max get in the ship and go up to the atmosphere, the Onion following. Max studies the shell for hours before going to sleep.
The next day, Olimar and Max go back to The Open Woods and explores further, Max finding a Cave.
