The Tanookimin is a species of Pikmin found in The President's Adventure game, and supposed to be found in it's others sequels. Wearing the Tanooki Suit from the Super Mario Bros. franchise, the Tanookimin are made on Animal Candypop Bud or in the Animalist Incubator, found in one of the caves of the game. The Tanookimin have no resistances, but it's skills are enhanced. When throw far away, they open the suit's wings to fly for some seconds and reach further areas. When throw closer, they give a little jump like Mario, which help them reaching higher areas. Their jump capabilities are similar to the jump capabilities of the Yellow Pikmin.
Nobody knows the reason Tanookimin dress the way they do, and researches didn't prove any crossovers between the Pikmin universe and the Super Mario Bros. Universe. Another interesting fact is that, when you throw a Red Pikmin inside the Animal Candypop Bud or inside the Animalist Incubator, it'll come out a Red Pikmin wearing the Tanooki Suit, with it's skills now improved. If you throw a Blue Pikmin, it'll come out a Blue Pikmin with the Tanooki Suit. This means any color or kind of Pikmin can become Tanookimin, however, using Red, Yellow and Blue are the most commun cases.
The Tanookimin can be breed in two different ways. With the newcomer Animal Candypop Bud, which is a light brown flower with white strips, that normally generates five to six Tanookimin each. Also, there's the Animalist Incubator, that gives out three to four Pikmin in one day. To make the breed, the player must fit any Pikmin inside the Incubator, and, the next day, Tanookimin will come out. Naturally or genetically breeding them, it doesn't seem to have any alteration of it from the way it's borned.
In The President's Adventure, the Animal Candypop Bud is a very rare type of candypop, making the Tanookimin the second more rare type of Pikmin in the game (being Skull Pikmin the first). Also, but not confirmed, Tanookimin are supposed to make an appearance in The President's Adventure 2: Galaxy Explorers, as a major role Pikmin. That was changed, and we're still waiting for the answer that it might appear in the Challenge Mode.
Tanookimin aren't really needed for anything. They're skills are improved, what makes him a great Pikmin, but there's absolute no task that other Pikmin can't do that only the Tanookimin can do. Again, they have no immunities, what makes them extremely vulnerable, and their carrying capacity is equal all other types of Pikmin, except for the Purple one.
