The Heat Shield is an upgrade in Pikmin: Forces of Evil. When Captain Olimar finds it after defeating Ridley on Zebes, he can pass through fire without his suit taking damage, and the damage rate of lava is reduced from ten to four health points per second. In addition to lifting one of the locks on the chamber leading to the Zebesian Core, this makes accessing the Bulborb's Lair much easier. The Heat Shield functions like the Varia Suit from the Metroid series but does not reduce any other form of damage.
