How to Reach

After landing in the Highland Field and building up your forces with some Pellet Posies, build the short bridge that makes a ramp up to the next level of ground (which looks similar to the area near Snagret Hole in Pikmin 2) and have your Pikmin swarm the rock to your right. They'll beat on it and break the cover apart, revealing the entrance to the game's first dungeon. It's a small, easy place that will help you understand how dungeons work if this is your first time playing a Pikmin game with dungeons. You'll discover Purple Pikmin in there. The only threats you'll face are a few simple enemies. You might as well bring in a 100-Pikmin army.

Floor 1

Like the area above ground, there are Dwarf Yellow Bulborbs down here too. Seven of them, scattered around this easy floor. Being underground, the place is very dark, but luckily there are Glowcaps that light the way, giving the floor a purple lighting effect. You'll be able to find and eliminate the Dwarf Yellow Bulborbs with ease. If you take them out one by one, you won't lose any Pikmin on this floor. There's a treasure sitting out in the open here, though it might be surrounded by a couple of enemies.

Floor 2

There are four Dwarf Yellow Bulborbs here, but when you get close to them, five Male Sheargrubs burrow out of the ground to help. To reduce the chance of losing Pikmin, note that captains can easily kill these burrowing enemies in a couple of punches (Dwarf Yellow Bulborbs can be punched out easily too). There's another treasure sitting in one of the alcoves on this floor, likely the one across from where you started. It's dark here, so be sure to not get attacked from behind by the Male Sheargrubs.

Floor 3

Final floors are home to bosses in all caves except this one. You land nearby a trio of Violet Candypop Buds which produce Purple Pikmin. Get 15 purples and then have all your Pikmin break down the black gate blocking the way into the next chamber. In the next chamber you'll find two Red Bulborbs asleep. Take them out one at a time from behind- you'll notice purples are very effective against them. One will spit out a Key and the other will spit out a treasure. Take them both back. The treasure will be added to your list, but the Key will not. It disintegrates upon touching the beam of the research pod, causing a geyser to open up on the floor so you can escape with all your treasures here. From now on, be on the lookout for keys if you find special gates you can't take down with Pikmin or an apparent lack of a hole or geyser to leave a sublevel. The Key looks the same as it did in Pikmin 2.
