Attacks Eats Pikmin

A type of snagret with a light green body and a tawny feathered head. It has a large red comb on top of its head. Despite the similarity to roosters in real life, this comb does not signify gender; quite the opposite, since all members of the species have combs. It has more health than a regular snagret, and is also distinctly larger. It has all the normal attacks of a snagret, but it can also drive its head into the ground and dig up a cluster of 3-5 eggs that it then launches towards nearby pikmin squads. After reaching half health, it gains a chance to launch out 5-7 eggs spread around the arena whenever it unburies itself. These eggs can knock down captains and also deflower pikmin, but they can also burst into a variety of things when hitting a surface. They can burst into nothing, some nectar, a Burrowing Snaglet, or a swarm of Mitites. In the Challenge Mode Hard difficulty refight of this boss, these eggs can also rarely turn into Cocooning Aracnodes, and it loses the ability to drop nectar. When defeated, it squawks and emerges from its hole onto the ground, revealing a dark brown foot with small talons, as well as revealing 9-12 eggs at the place where it emerged. These eggs can contain similar things to those used in the creature's attacks, differing them from typical eggs.

Notes

Olimar's notes

What was thought initially to simply be another stage in the Snagret lifecycle is in fact a separate species. This species of snagret produces many offspring at a time throughout their life, and they all mature very quickly. This leads to other snagrets placing their eggs into the clutches of members of this snagret species. And all this leads to the behavior of this species to utilize its own eggs as a method of attacking enemies, seeing as most of them are not their own eggs in the first place.

Louie's notes

The meat of this great squawker is plentiful and mostly bland, and seems to taste reminiscent of pretty much any other meat else you pair it with, so best to avoid it altogether and use its eggs instead. Each egg you take from one of this creature's clutches is most likely from an entirely different creature. If you crave variety, these eggs are for you!

Shacho's notes

Eggs incubated by this creature seem to hatch much more quickly and the chicks tend to be much healthier. We could domesticate it, or at least learn from it how to replicate its techniques, it could be a great boon for the industry. The only thing I'd worry about is the massive racket it would cause.

Trivia

  • This creature's scientific name is based of off ovum, the latin word for egg, and gallus, the scientific name of the chicken.
  • Louie's comment on this creature references the joke that lots of things taste like chicken, as this creature is based on a chicken.
