The Candypop Caterer is a meddlesome and cowardly scarpanid. Each one finds shelter and protection within a Carnivorous Candypop Bud, maintaining a mutual, symbiotic relationship with its candypop. A Candypop Caterer will remain hidden by the closed petals of its Carnivorous Candypop Bud, revealing itself only after the flower blooms in the presence of Pikmin, but not leaders. Often immediately, but sometimes after a delay due to being caught off-guard, the creature will swiftly swoop towards the squad to snatch up to two Pikmin and proceed to throw them into the candypop, repeatedly looping back for more until they are out of range or no more are left.
Candypop Caterers are small insectoids with oblong bodies. Like other scarpanids, they have on their head a set of large, flat antennae that allows them flight. On either lateral side of their body is an arm, each one terminating in a three-fingered hand. Their two eyes are distinctly mammalian in appearance and possess light sclerae and small, dark pupils.
Candypop Caterers attempt to keep their distance from Pikmin, more so from larger groups, and leaders especially. They often dodge Pikmin thrown at them unless slowed by the Pikmin they may be carrying, temporarily reducing their senses and speed. Although quick and agile, Candypop Caterers can be taken down with only a single well-aimed Pikmin throw.
