The Bomblax is a mutated form of Bulborb. It resembles a Fiery Bulblax, with melting skin and mismatched eyes, but it also has a back encrusted with Bomb-Rocks, bright green eyes that glow in the dark, and taupe skin. It normally sleeps, but when awakened, it will eat nearby Pikmin and spit Bomb-Rocks at ones that are further away. It's recommended that you use the Protective Gloves to throw its own bombs back at it, or use Purple Pikmin on its face. When killed, the shell of bombs on its back violently explodes, incinerating the Bomblax's body. Nothing is left behind, except for some nectar and/or sprays for your effort.

It is similar to the Bomborb but has no relation. Bomborbs are Red Bulborbs that have been taken over by explosive parasites while Bomblaxes are simply a variant form of Grub-dog caused by mutation.

Olimar's Notes

This grub-dog seems to have been altered from its original form and become an entirely new species. The Bomblax has a shell of explosive stones on its back which, if struck will explode violently leaving nothing behind. Though its anatomy is similar to the Red Bulborb, it must be studied further regardless of the danger.
