Dwarf Smoky Bulborbs are, unlike many dwarf variants of Bulborbs, actually grub-dogs. They are an adolescent versions of Smoky Bulborbs, and have the characteristic smoke-enveloped back which Pikmin can't touch. The young grub-dogs are highly agressive, and are always mobile. Also, they can eat Pikmin 1.5 times faster than regular Dwarf Bulborbs.

A recent expedition has confirmed the sudden appearance of adolescent Smoky Bulborbs in the wild. Highly aggresive, they will ferociously attack any intruders that come into their habitats. As they are young, they have yet to develop the navy blue stripes of their older relatives.
