Metal poisoning or toxic metal is an element found in the Pikmin game series, and found in many, many Fanon games. Toxic metal hazards take the form of pools of shiny, silver mercury. Pikmin are slowed down when they walk in mercury. The mercury will then stick to them and they will die if the liquid is not whistled off them in time. Cobalt Pikmin are immune to the effects of toxic metal.

Some enemies also utilize toxic metal as a weapon. Cobalt Pikmin generally should be used against toxic metal-wielding enemies.
