The Skeetershock is a member of the spitterspatter family appearing in Pikmin: Elemental Speciation. It has an appearance similar to the ordinary Skeeterskate, but with brighter yellow footpads, and greyer legs. Its most notable features are that instead of a water pouch on its head, it boasts a large, battery-shaped organ. This sturdier head makes it less vulnerable to direct impacts by Pikmin. It also has two plug-like prongs on the sides of its snout, which it uses to shoot electric bolts. These electric bolts instantly kill Pikmin that are not Yellow Pikmin, and damage captains not outfitted with the Anti-Electrifier. While it remains alive, a small sphere of water around it is electrified, instantly killing any inapt Pikmin that swim too close. When hit with a direct throw to the back, the thrown Pikmin will bounce back in the direction of the captain that threw it, and not fall in the electric water.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “These creatures skate across the water’s surface and use the power of waves to charge the organ that rests on their head. They can then use that to launch a small burst of electricity toward predators. This adaptation allowed them to live in much harsher climates, distancing them from their kin.”
Louie's notes
- “With a metallic taste and tingly shocking sensation when biting into it, these creatures' delectable legs will make you swear you're eating steel screws (but in a good way.)”
Shacho's notes
- “These things are much better at capturing kinetic energy from waves. If we could interface these creatures into our power grids, our electricity supply could grow exponentially!”
