Attacks Alerts and summons enemies
Stay away from that thing. I don't want it to make any unnecessary noises, and we'd have to deal with more of these idiots. – The S.S. Hammerhead, upon discovering the Cornian Alarm

The Cornian Alarm is a species of cornian that appears in Pikmin: The Cornian Invasion. The Cornian Alarm, like most cornians, resembles an eyeball with a white sclera and black pupil. The creature has two metal arms with white claws, and a red hat with a yellow button. Compared to other cornians, the Cornian Alarm is the smallest of its family, and rides on a large, red alarm with four yellow, crab-like legs. When defeated, the alarm will be destroyed, and the cornian will be the only thing that can be collected.

Cornian Alarms remain docile, occasionally wandering to a new location to rest. If a leader doesn't approach the cornian, it won't be provoked or alerted to their location. However, if they get too close, then the Cornian Alarm will suddenly spring into action. The cornian will slam down on the alarm, causing it to light up and create a loud, siren noise. This noise will alert any enemies nearby, whether sleeping or awake, to its location. If there are no enemies nearby, the Cornian Alarm will summon either three Cornian Soldiers, a Cornian Brute, a Cornian Shield, a Cornian Barracks, a Spiky Cornian, or by a 1% chance, a Cornian Giant. The alarm will then be on cooldown for 30 seconds, and the Cornian Alarm will flee from the area as the player fights the enemies the cornian alerted.

The best way to defeat a Cornian Alarm is by simply not interacting with it. However, if the player must fight the Cornian Alarm, the best way to attack it is by killing it as quickly as possible. Swarming the cornian can work, but using a Bomb Pikmin or Hypno Pikmin can neutralize it quickly too. If there are enough Slime Pikmin, they can all collectively shoot a large glob of slime at the Cornian Alarm, which will cause it to be trapped and unable to sound its alarm. If a Hypno Pikmin hypnotizes the Cornian Alarm, it will use its alarm to summon hypnotized cornians to fight for the player.

Björn's notes

These goons are extremely dangerous! Their alarms can summon enemies at a moment's notice to attack me and my Pikmin. I must be careful when dealing with them. My best course of action is to simply avoid it. Easier said than done when it can move...

Lilli's notes

That loud sound hurt my ears! I remember one time, when I had an alarm going off, I threw it in my jello cup, and it muffled the sound! If only I brought jello cups! But the S.S. Hammerhead doesn't like jello getting all over his interior.

S.S. Hammerhead's notes

The Cornian Alarm is a particularly strange species of cornian. The small organism on top of the alarm doesn't actually pilot the device, as the alarm itself is entirely sentient and acts on its own accord. If it does spot non-cornians, however, it will slam down on the alarm, which will cause it to release a loud siren noise as a deterrent. This only does the opposite, as cornians will come to the source of the noise to help the Cornian Alarm.

Some cornians have said that if the alarm is at the right frequency, it could summon something of great proportions.

Overlord’s thoughts

This cornian acts exactly like the Dead Ringer, that one bronzabell. I wonder what happened to them? Perhaps this alarm is a subspecies of the Dead Ringer. If so, I hope Björn and Lilli don't destroy it... they probably will.

Orin's orin-ings

Did you know smaller cornians are looked down upon by the general populous? How discriminatory! Thankfully, we have found a new job for them! Don't say we don't promote diversity! We welcome all forms of life! Except non-cornians. Stay out.
