Germ Pikmin are a species of Pikmin appearing in Pikmin Evolution, where they are the fourth Pikmin type encountered. They get their name from their amorphous bodies, having a lime-green body, stubby arms and legs, and pale pores peppering their skin, giving them the appearance of bacteria. Germ Pikmin are noted for their corrosive bodies. While their skin is harmless to the touch, Germ Pikmin can corrode any enemy that eats them, leaving them weaker and slower for a short time. Germ Pikmin also have a unique method of attacking; rather than striking as most Pikmin do, Germ Pikmin use their pale pores to inject acid into their opponents, poisoning them. While Germ Pikmin themselves have the lowest attack power of all Pikmin types, the acid they release will multiply the attack power of Pikmin attacking the same target by 1.5x. Their biggest strength, however, is their complete immunity to acid, being the only type to be able to swim in the substance. Most importantly, when in acid, they enter a special state where their pores turn into spines, which more than doubles their attack strength, making them more reliable in an environment where they are the only effective form of offense. They also grant protection against acid's corrosive effects to captains, creating a protective bubble to slow down the health drain caused by it, with a larger squad of Germ Pikmin providing a larger and more durable bubble. This protection against acid also extends to corrosive sludge, Germ Pikmin being the only type that can destroy brown sludge. and while they can't destroy pink sludge, they can safely walk on it and not be slowed down. However, those traits underlie some core issues, like poor running and digging speed, and a lack of immediate power. So, Germ Pikmin, despite their innate usefulness, have some major shortcomings that need to be made up for by the other types.
