The Sanurtle is a semiaquatic, sand-dwelling sea turtle-like enemy appearing in Pikmin: The Continents. Sanurtles are adapted to coastal shores, where they lay their eggs, and eat vegetation buried in the sand. Sanurtles defend their eggs with their lives, using their flippers to shove away Sand Pikmin and other predators that try to eat them. By the time the eggs hatch, the mother will be too old to help her young survive in the ocean, where there are plenty of hungry predators, forcing them to rely on natural instincts to hide in rocks and camouflage with sand. Once they mature, not many predators besides Pikmin will desire to target them because of their thick, protective shell.
