These are the various visions Olimar has throughout the game.

Chapter 1

Olimar is greeted with images of an ethereal realm, encompassing a vast landscape of twisting purple and blue canyons, and an oceanic green above. He sees a humanoid figure located in an ancient-looking building. A name suddenly pierces through the vision into Olimar's mind. Ultikai Voidstar. Olimar feels like this name is familiar, as if he's known about him his whole life. Yet he knows this is his first encounter with the name... Suddenly his mind opens up into a top-down view of this Ultikai's school, the Astral Academy. Olimar begins to take in information in a stream of extrasensory input. The Astral Academy is located within a country called the Omni Empire, which is a part of the Holy Matrix. Olimar tries to reach out to learn more about this "Holy Matrix", but the stream moves on to a different path. Ultikai is a Xenan male of forty-two years of age. He aspires to become a Living Wraith. Again, Olimar tries to probe for clarification, but to no avail. Olimar gives up and just lets the visionary waters carry him upstream. He sees images of Ultikai walking to a classroom, and knocking on a door. Ultikai enters the room, to find a pile of bones and blue ash next to the teacher's desk. Ultikai shrieks and runs for help. Olimar then sees Ultikai being escorted away by what appears to be a policeman. In the constabulary, Ultikai is questioned about what he saw. He was asked what he knew, and of course Ultikai knew nothing. Then he was told to watch this display of magick. The constable showed off a green vortex, and began chanting. The guttural mumbling of the policeman began to entrance Ultikai, and the copper broke into common language. “You do not know of any murder. You didn’t have a Hydraturgy teacher named Daemator. You know not of these things…”

Ultikai woke up in the middle of class, feeling very foggy, and not having a memory of anything after 7pm the day before. He was concerned, but his teacher asked him some hard problems. So he went about his day, and then school was up. He was heading to the dormitory when he saw a shadowy figure peeking around a pillar. Ultikai heard a whisper in his mind - Meet me at the gymnasium in two hours. Then the specter was gone. Ultikai was unnerved by this, but decided it was best to see what it was about.

Ultikai entered the gymnasium, and then the walls and floors started melting into oblivion. All that remained was a flat plane of white. Ultikai was indescribably scared, but shouted, “Who’s there? What Magickal prank is this?” A voice answered in his mind, the same voice from earlier - I am the Emissary. You are currently in the Infinity Zone. I have brought you here because you have become intertwined in the fate of the omniverse. You do not know it yet, but you have been hexed. I shall now erase the damage done. A ripple of green appears around Ultikai, and suddenly he remembers the murder. He remembers the constable using dark magick to hex him. He gets a dreadful feeling in the pit of his stomach. You are now a target. The Dark Ones will be surveilling your every move. You now must decide whether or not you will walk in the light of truth, or the convenience of shadow. Will you help me in fighting this scourge?

Ultikai knew in his head that the Emissary was at least somewhat trustworthy because he had given him his memories back. Why would someone do that if they were against him? He knew the memories were genuine, because he lived them. The sequence fit perfectly. Ultikai knew he was in deep at this point, and decided it was best to listen.

“I’ll help you. But I need confirmation that I can trust you. Show yourself!”, Ultikai said. I cannot show you my true form. But I can offer an avatar for you to see in the flesh. A Gray Zikmin appeared, with red zig-zag tattoos across their skin. “Hello, Ultikai. I’m Kaunon, The Emissary’s Avatar.” Ultikai wasn’t sure if this helped much, but took it as a good intentioned gesture. Kaunon explained that he possessed a student at the academy to get that body, with permission of course. Ultikai wasn’t sure how you could possess someone with their consent, but ignored that trepidation. “The Emissary can’t show their true form because the Dark Ones would discover them, and jeopardize the whole plan.”

“What is the plan, and who are the Dark Ones?” Ultikai asked.

“The Dark Ones have been infiltrating the ranks of the Omni Empire for centuries now. It is only a matter of time before they completely take over. The Emissary’s goal is to rid the Astral Academy of the Dark Ones located within it. This will act as a beacon of hope to enact similar changes in other institutions.”, Kaunon said.

“Where does my teacher fit into all of this?” Ultikai asked.

“Well, he was convinced of the corruption in the administration, so launched his own investigation. He was too high-priority of a person for the Emissary to get involved, unfortunately. Helping him would have revealed our entire network to the Dark Ones.”, Kaunon said.

“Well, that’s why he got killed, isn’t it?”

“Yes, unfortunately. He was seen as a threat to the Dark Ones’ control over the school.”, Kaunon said.

“How can you guarantee I won’t get killed by helping you and the Emissary?”, Ultikai said.

“We can grant you special dimensional magicks typically forbidden for students, which will allow you to evade interlopers. However, if you use these magicks in sight of faculty, it will jeopardize our plans. Be careful, Ultikai.”

“How do you know my name?”, asked Ultikai.

“We’ve been watching your career with great interest. It was no accident that you discovered your teacher’s soul essence. We believe it was destined to happen.”, Kaunon said.

Kaunon waved a hand and produced a ring. “Wear this, it should keep you safe from the illusion magicks of the Dark Ones.” He gave the ring to Ultikai, and assured him that they would protect him. He wouldn’t end up like his teacher. “You’ll be able to know when illusions are happening, and how to respond to them, but you won’t be tricked by them.”

“What am I supposed to do?”, Ultikai said.

“For now, go about your day. We’ll give you updates as time goes on. The ring will connect you to The Emissary’s thoughts. We can guide you that way.” Kaunon nodded, and Ultikai thanked them for restoring his memories. Then, the room reassembled itself. It was the gymnasium again. The visions begin to fade, and Olimar begins to wake up.
