Olimar's Son, Sagittarius, is seen sailing through space. Suddenly a meteor strikes him out of the air, sending him and his shattered ship hurtling towards the Distant Planet.
 
After the intro, a short 'cutscene' plays(Much like in pikmin 1, but with the background tinted green) where Sagittarius states his name and where he is from. He then states that unfortunately for him, his Dolphin 2.0, a gift from his father, has shattered into 50 pieces.

Pikmin: Return to the Distant Planet is a game by [[1]] in which Olimars son, Sagittarius, is on a vacation in space flying in his ship: the S.S. Dolphin 2.0. In a strange twist, history repeats itself and his ship is struck by a meteor, shattering his ship into 50 parts and sending them hurtling to the Distant Planet.
