The Castaway Mode DLC for Pikmin E: Remastered serves as an expansion upon the original game's plot, taking place before Olimar arrives on the planet, putting you in control of a single Castaway who must survive and wait until help arrives.

Synopsis

Long, long before Olimar's return to PNF-404, an unknown Castaway awakens, in the middle of an unexplored area. Their ship is wrecked, irreparable, and they are seemingly surrounded by Leaflings. Panicked, they run off, for seemingly miles on end, until entering a cave to safely hide away in. After a few weeks, they reawaken, realizing they don't have any food or water to survive on, they must exit their cave, and survive and forage on the surface.
