The Hothound is a species of medium-sized beasthound appearing in Pikmin Evolution. It is a two-legged canine-like creation, like all members of that family. The fur of this canine is a deep red and the body of the hound resembles that of a real-life bulldog. The Hothound is particularly aggressive for the otherwise neutral-aligned beasthounds, as it patrols a territory like the Spotty Bulbear, which can be identified by the ash-covered terrain and the sudden fire geysers that appear everywhere. The Hothound has a keen sense of smell, being able to sense whoever enters its territory, where it will then bark and attempt to chase down any intruders it spots. The Hothound, as the name suggests, has powers over the element of fire, with its primary ability being to set its own fur on fire, with the exception of its long, grey tail. The Hothound mainly attacks by barking out waves of flame, which leave behind slippery ash in their wake. It can also scatter small stones onto the ground which grow into fire geysers that you must either avoid or destroy alongside the Hothound. The fire will obviously burn anyone who touches the flames, with the exception of Elixer Pikmin who are immune to it. However still be careful as the Hothound can also suck in Pikmin with its powerful lungs, which can even affect Elixer Pikmin, so no Pikmin is truly safe. The fire is unique in that it is oil-based rather than air based, this means that it can't be put out by water or ice, as that only causes it to create a retaliatory fiery shockwave in response. Rather its acid that needs to be splashed onto the creature's body to put out the flames, allowing all types to attack the body, however after a while the flames will alight once again so hope you have a steady supply of green syrups on you. Another weakness you can exploit is that fact that the tail of the Hothound can be set on fire as well, surprising the dog to the point that its flame pelt will be put out, allowing all Pikmin types to attack it. To do this you need to have Pikmin hit the tail, as that triggers the hound to perform a sweeping attack, which shoves any Pikmin out of the way. If the tail sweeps a fire geyser you will set it alight, scaring the poor dog into losing its flaming pelt. The tail is very firm and muscular, so you can't just latch onto it, however a simple hit is that is needed to trigger that sweeping attack. Another method to burn the tail is to have a lit Elixer Pikmin hit the tail, as you can set it alight instantly without the need to lure it into some flames. Since there is a constant supply of fire, you have my opportunities for your Elixer Pikmin to set themselves alight and attack this big bad dog. Overall despite the tough exterior of this hound, inside its just a scaredy-cat like all of us. WIP
