The icy bombrock, is just like any other bombrock except when it explodes it does not kill,  instead, it freezes anything that was within the radius of the explosion. it typically freezes the target for 10 seconds on contact. what causes the icy explosion seems to be alive to a small degree. it appears that when this type of bombrock is created from the Icy Dirigibug, the fluid seems to be liquid nitrogen, tainted with a form of bacteria created from the dirigibug. This bacteria controls the liquid nitrogen, through this relationship the bacteria feeds off the liquid nitrogen and helps to actually "grow" it allowing it to spread across the entire creature that it comes in contact with. In return, the Dirigibug uses it as a potent weapon. even though the ice will not kill anything it allows for other creatures to take advantage of this situation, and the Icy Dirigibug, being a scavenger, eats the remains.

The icy bomb-rock is a type of bomb-rock that instantly freezes anything within range of its explosion. The effect only lasts ten seconds, but completely immobilizes those it effects and renders them helpless. Possible victims of an icy bomb-rock are leaders, Pikmin, and smaller enemies such as the Dwarf Red Bulborb. Icy bomb-rocks are utilized by Icy Dirigibugs, making it a rather annoying enemy because of the object's cryogenic properties.
