Roach Pikmin are a species of Pikmin appearing in Pikmin Evolution, where they are either the fifth or sixth Pikmin type encountered in the game alongside Alloy Pikmin. As the name suggests, they are a more insectoid species of Pikmin, with a brown carapace, red compound eyes, a small pair of wings, and 2 pairs of arms. These traits give the Roach Pikmin unique abilities that makes them invaluable to exploration. Firstly their carapace helps filers out unclear air, making them the only type to be immune to poison and spores making the only type able to destroy toxic vents and the only type not able to turn into a hostile Puffmin. Their compound eyes allow them to see hidden pieces of refuse which allows them to unbury said treasures, this is complimented by their extra pair of arms which gives them double the digging speed of all Pikmin types. Their most unique trait is their wings, while their not powerful enough to let them fly, they do help captains in exploring caves containing deadly natural gas which otherwise slowly sap at their health bars. By unfurling their wings they can create an air bubble around their team, with a larger squad of Roach Pikmin giving a larger bubble to protect against damage from the toxic gas. Additionally their wings also bring the practical application of giving them the highest throw arc of all available Pikmin. However the carapace and wings which gave them so many unique ways to assist you can bring some detriments, for one they alongside Elixer Pikmin are the only types to instantly die to acid as the substance gets trapped in their carapace, corroding them even faster. Their wings also become much heavier in water making them twice as fast to drown compared to other types. It's these qualities that make them less of a combat oriented Pikmin, but their unique traits helps make up for that, being one the best Pikmin to explore and find refuse with.
