The Sluguum is an enemy introduced in Pikmin V. It is a miniature relative of the Sandbelching Meerslug, retaining only the ability to create sandpits to drag Pikmin into its mouth. It will stop and change its position from time to time. Like the Sandbelching Meerslug, it can be unearthed by digging it out, but only Orange Pikmin are capable of doing this safely. It can also be dealt with by making it eat a bomb rock, which kills it outright.
Notes
Brittany's notes
- “Along with the Sandbelching Meerslug, Sluguums make up a peculiar family of slugs which thrive in dry environments which would otherwise desiccate their aqueous bodies. My theory is that they have some sort of active sand repulsion system in their bodies, as not only do they immerse themselves in it, but they even intake it temporarily as an adaptational weapon.”
Olimar's notes
- “If you have a bomb rock handy, the Sluguum will eat it without noticing and get fried from the inside. If not, Orange Pikmin are needed to dig it out of the ground without getting pulled into its mouth.”
Louie's notes
- “It preserves moisture with a thick, hydrophobic skin, so it requires a lot of heat or time to cook fully. What? Didn't think I knew the word hydrophobic? Knowing your food sometimes means learning biology!”
