The Thieving Snagpie is a snagret with a black beak and head, with black scales and white patterns. Overall it resembles an Eurasian Magpie. Different to the regular Snagret, instead of sitting in one place and abushing pikmin, it looks for treasure around the map. Every approximately 2 minutes, if there is a treasure on the ground, it will burrow up from beneath it and swallow it whole. It targets treasures near to leaders more often, and more so to the active leader. When it eats a treasure, the treasure gets lodged in the creature's throat, causing it to get stuck in the ground for a couple seconds, leaving it vulnerable to attack. It has a hole similarly to most Breadbugs, which appears to be made from packed mud and sticks. When a pikmin is thrown onto the hole, the Thieving Snagpie emerges and becomes hostile, attacking like a regular Snagret. This creature has slightly less health than the regular snagret.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “This slightly smaller member of the snavian family has a peculiar attraction to shiny objects. It often goes out of its way to search its range for any treasures laying around. In this way, it is similar to the breadbug, and it also shares the characteristic of having a noticeable burrow. The similarities end there. This snavian burrows from the ground directly below the treasure to carry it back to its den in its stomach. It often gets stuck in the ground when trying to return, as it adjusts poorly to the added weight and change in size.”
Louie's notes
- “Its meat is rather plain, and lacks notable texture. But, its sharp beak and shining scales make interesting decorative utensils.”
Shacho's notes
- “These things remind me of my times at Hocotate after the space bunny incident. I have to watch my treasure carefully. Although these could prove useful if trained to only steal from competitors.”
