The Boulder Mawdad is a species of mawdad in Pikmin 5 that digs up rocks to help it hunt. It resembles a small Armored Mawdad with fewer legs, a jagged mouth and crescent-shaped mandibles, and its top is made of crystal. The Boulder Mawdad is initially buried in the ground and will use its mandibles to push its rock out and then climb on it. It will start rolling it and may unintentionally crush Pikmin, but can use its mandibles while rolling its rock to eat Pikmin nearby. If a Pikmin is thrown on it, it will tumble off and land on its feet, and soon start running. Its shell can be destroyed using Rock Pikmin, making it possible to damage. When the mawdad dies, its boulder will stay in place.
