Frost Beetles are a species of scarab beetle appearing in Pikmin: Spark and found exclusively in dens. They have a similar build to the Anode Beetle, with the main differences being that their spots are a light blue and their shell is a lighter shade of gray. Like other scarab beetles, this species dwells in groups, its strength in numbers making it a successful species. Each Frost Beetle has a specialized gland it uses to produce a fluid that freezes upon contact with air, forming a wall of ice between two specimens. This wall not only limits space but also freezes any Pikmin that touches it. Frozen Pikmin can not move, and shatter, instantly dying, if attacked while in such a state. Due to this, Hairy Pikmin are recommended to use against these creatures as they can both resist the freezing effects of the ice wall and break the ice wall itself to remove it.
