The Ironclad Clint Beetle is an enemy in Pikmin 5: Apex Predator. It is a giant black beetle with an impenetrable shell of iron. It paces around with the speed of an Iridescent Flint Beetle and consumes Pikmin in its path. The only way to hurt the Ironclad Clint Beetle is to flip it over to expose its vulnerable belly, but this will prove difficult due to the fact it takes the weight of 30 Pikmin to flip. Because of such high requirements, it is recommended to bring an army of Purple Pikmin to fight it, as it will only take three of them to flip it over. What happens once the Ironclad Clint Beetle is flipped over depends on what it was doing at the time: if it was standing still, it immediately rights itself; if it was moving, it slides along the path it was moving, and will right itself if it hits a soft surface or nothing; lastly, if it slides into a hard wall, it hits its head and become dizzy. It hitting its head on a hard surface is the only time it can be attacked, so taking advantage is imperative. As the beast's health goes down, it will slide for less time before flipping itself back over again, almost requiring flipping it over directly before a hard surface at critical levels. Upon killing it, it will spit out any treasures it was carrying and stay belly-up for good.

Notes

Olimar's notes

A study of Ironclad Clint Beetles in their habitats shows that they are easily overwhelmed and overrun from any territory of their own as soon as other beetles show up. Because of this, Ironclad Clint Beetles have been forced to make major changes to their habits relative to other beetles to survive. Not only do they lay many more eggs than their rivals, but they will also protect them, while other beetles abandon their clutches as soon as they are laid.
