The Irritating Scatterbloom is a scatterweed, a species of hostile plant, appearing Pikmin: Spark. It is a flowering weed noted for its colorful flowering bulbs, which are open year-round. Upon reaching maturity, the plants scatter their seeds about their local territory, which latch onto nearby wildlife. It also scatters these seeds as a defense mechanism when their bulbs are disturbed by predators. The seeds are coated in pollen that causes irritation and pain if ingested by both fauna and Pikmin, and to some creatures can be fatal. If a creature or Pikmin falls to these pollen-coated seeds, the seeds germinate and instantly sprout a scatterbloom bud, which emits a toxic gas that poisons any Pikmin that are not White Pikmin. The plant, and its buds, will die and wither away if its flowers, of which there are typically three to five, are removed.

Notes

Abel's medical journal

On contact with these seeds, I felt a stinging sensation from the pollen they create. I know I never get allergies, so I wouldn't wish my worst (and possibly allergy-prone) enemies to inhale this dust. Still, the dust can be used as a soothing cream that, when mixed with distilled water and Pellet Posey root, can aid in curing rashes and the like.

Lyn's sale review

Flowers make a beautiful centerpiece, but the pollen can potentially cause an ecological disaster if unchecked. PIX said that the flowers spread pollen via muscles in their stems and roots, so they must be sold cut from the roots and stem to prevent involuntary pollen spreading.
