Marvin is a playable Leafling captain in Pikmin Evolution, being the representative for Purple Leaflings. Marvin is a self-described "survivalist," being a man living off the lamb for several years. He first appears in the Bone Pit, saving the rest of the captains from the Ancient Sirehound, dealing what appears to be the killing blow to the large beasthound. The moment of victory is short-lived, as Marvin faints afterward from the shock of seeing other Leaflings down here. Marvin acts as the team uncle of the group, being the oldest and most experienced, and butts heads with Magdelene as result. Being away from civilization for so long gives him plenty of personal experiences to write about in his survival guide, which details his... unique tactics when dealing with the many creatures on this planet, all recorded on the Piklopedia. He is the focal character for the story Realm of the Beast Lords.
Personality and quirks
Marvin says he has experience in combat, which he does, but the fact he does so using such bizarre methods can give him a few skeptics. He's not all pure brawn, as he is surprisingly eloquent in his discussion about dealing with the dangers of the world. This leads him to be close colleagues with Azure due to their shared interest in analyzing the world around them. Marvin is also insightful at times, able to instantly figure out Leni's past with the Order of the Wraiths despite her trying to hide that, though he keeps this fact to himself since it doesn't matter at the moment. Overall, he is a unique fellow who clearly looks like he has a story to tell.

Marvin is the bulkiest member of the cast, but also the slowest. His abilities revolve around brute strength, with his signature ability being the Super Grasp. The Super Grasp gives him the ability to grab items and carry them to the ship, just like the Pikmin, with his carrying capacity being 10. This allows Marvin the valuable niche of assisting in the collection of some heavy refuse, allowing for a better distribution of tasks. His affinity is earth, taking reduced damage from earth- and crushing-based attacks. Overall, a hardy captain who can assist the team with several important tasks.
