An Albino Ionpid

The Ionpid Family is a family is creatures which have so far only appeared in Pikmin Chronicles and its soon-to-be-released sequel, "Pikfiction". The Ionpids are aquatic creatures that swim in shallow bodies of water. They appear to be able to survive in both fresh water and marine water, as they can be found in the Spiral Tail Islands. They cannot kill pikmin, but will deflower them by slapping them with their tails. They can also move onto land, but cannot move as fast as in water, They are capable of damaging the captains by "gumming" them with their toothless jaws.

Albino Ionpid

The most common of the Ionpid family. It is white is color, with blotches of light green all over it, and dark red eyes.

Spiked Ionpid

A slightly smaller and skinnier member of the Ionpid family. It is yellowish-green, with a very light hint of brown. It is covered in spikes which deflect all attacks. The only way to kill these creatures is to use bomb-rocks, or to attack their faces.

Dark Ionpid

The larger enemy of it's family. It is an Ionpid that has been infused with radiation. It has sharp teeth and will eat pikmin, as well as cause more damage to the captains that other Ionpids. It also swims faster.

Trivia

  • The noises that Dark Ionpids make when they are not moving sound just like Jabu-Jabu's breathing from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.
  • Ionpids are based off of the real-life animals, Lungfish, which are also fish that can breath air and move and land. Also, their family's name, Ionpid, is actually the inverted way of spelling the Lungfish's family's name, which is Dipnoi.
