The Unknown Force is an element that blocks off different areas. After completing a certain task, the force will disappear, and you can continue forward from what the Unknown Force has blocked off. Unknown Forces are red, transparent moving liquids of some kind, and hurt captains, and/or kill Pikmin if touched. Unknown Forces are said to bring bad luck to those who make any kind of contact with it. Unknown Forces can also appear to be thin, and are between two metal bars. When the Unknown Force is deactivated, the metal bars turn black and crumble away into ashes.
In PikSpore, a gate enshrouded in an Unknown Force appears in The Walkway. Here, it is in the form of a purple/blue/red gas that makes the gate impenetrable. It is harmless to Pikmin. After collecting all treasures and completing Ultimate Arena, the gate becomes destructible and allows access to Bonus Bash.
In Pikmin: Connection of the Worlds, the Unknown Force also appears in the Chasm of Challenges on the 100th floor, for the second visit and afterwards. It will be surrounding the escape geyser, and when walked through, something will happen...
