An unknown force is an obstacle consisting of two or more devices that produce and are connected by an energy field. The energy field itself may be harmless or harmful upon contact and may block entities and objects or allow some or all to pass through. The devices can be of varying heights, distances, orientations, and rotations, thereby increasing the height, width, shape, and angle of the energy field they produce. An unknown force can be deactivated and even reactivated by interacting with certain mechanisms in the surrounding environment or accomplishing a certain task.

In Pikmin: Connection of the Worlds, the unknown force is a gaseous purple, blue, and red substance that appears only once, on the one-hundredth sublevel of the Chasm of Challenges on the second visit and onwards. It surrounds the escape geyser, and when walked through, activates a puzzle in the sublevel's main chamber.

In Pikspore, an unknown force, a purple, blue, and red gas, enshrouds a gate in the Walkway, rendering it impenetrable until after collecting every treasure and completing the Ultimate Arena. It is harmless to Pikmin and leaders, and destroying the gate once protected by it grants access to Bonus Bash.
