The Skulking Crawmad is a crawmad that appears in Pikmin: New Frontiers. A few can be found in the areas Mesmerizing Marsh, Verdant Tropics, as well as caves, Grove of Bounty, Steam Cycle, and Sprawling Armory. They behave similarly to their relatives, Hermit Crawmads, but live exclusively in holes in walls. When leaders or Pikmin get close enough to their hole, they will peek out of it. If they get any closer, they will leap out of their hole in an attempt to grab Pikmin. Regardless of whether they succeed or not, attacking their vulnerable tail while they are outside of the burrow is the only way to defeat them.

Notes

Olimar's notes

This relative of the Hermit Crawmad possesses a striking blue coloration on its carapace and delicate claws. It begins its life in brackish or freshwater before migrating on land. Males of the species have larger claws, and juveniles can be distinguished from mature individuals by their claws’ orange coloration.

Louie's notes

It’s best when basted in butter and grilled, but be careful not to overcook it. Dipping it in homemade chili and lime sauce is an absolute must if you want to bring out its full flavor.
