The Boggy Snagret is a species of snavian appearing in Pikmin Evolution. It has a similar body structure to it's closest relative the Burrowing Snagret, but it has a pure jet black body with bright purple eyes and a sickle shaped beak. However you will only see that form under very specific circumstances as it spends most of it's time covered in either a brown or pink fizzling sludge with only it's eyes visible. This sludge indicated two things, firstly it's acidic, meaning only Germ Pikmin can touch the Boggy Snagret, secondly if the sludge on the snagret's body is pink, it can't be removed unless you defeat the creature. The brown and pink variants have near identical fighting styles with each other, though they have a few distinctions between each other. The brown Boggy Snagret can burrow anywhere in it's territory, leaving behind more brown sludge, however the pink Boggy Snagret will only burrow inside it's puddle of sludge, meaning it's restricted to attacking that area only. Both share the same attacking pattern as most snavians in that they will pluck Pikmin from the ground with their beaks and eat them after some time unless they become overwhelmed with attacks, which becomes challenging due to the Germ Pikmin's weak initial attack, and obviously the Boggy Snagret is immune to the acidic taste of Germ Pikmin as well. This difficulty is compounded by the Boggy Snagret's unique ability to create dopplegangers of itself out of sludge. These alongside the main Boggy Snagret will slide along the sludge they call home and attacking them will cause the doppelgangers to explode into a mountain of sludge, burying the Germ Pikmin and causing them to drown. To tell between the Boggt Snagret and the doppelgangers look at how the doppelgangers slide in a straight line compared to the more circular sliding of the real Boggy Snagret, this emphasizes their artificial nature. When damaged more and more both the real Boggy Snagret and their doppelgangers will gain more erratic sliding speeds, making them more difficult to tell which is real. The best way to tell which is real is to spray water on the snagret as that not only reveals who is the real one but also temporarily makes the real one take twice as much damage from enemy attacks, but after a while it will dive back into the sludge to gain it's armor once again. Once defeated the Boggy Snagret's sludge will instantly disappear, which is very helpful as you don't need to clean it now, however the sludge doesn't disappear on the refuse these creatures often drop, meaning Germ Pikmin need to carry them to the ship for collection. One notable element of this boss is that pink Boggy Snagrets are often places in corridors to block them off, meaning they are sometimes required to be defeated for area progression, and in these case you may even need to fight two or more Boggy Snagrets in order to clear the sludge and proceed.

The sickle-shaped beak which helped with aquatic affinity seems to have made a new purpose in digging through mud, and the scales which store air for breathing have now act as a shield to protect against the often corrosive matter found in this species new muddy habitat.”
