The Garnet Urophibian is a unique creature in Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers. It resembles a giant, red caecilian with permanently shut eyes, and small barbels. They also have nostrils and wrinkly skin. When approached, they'll slither towards the squad and circle them. It will eventually create a full circle around itself to bite its tail, at which point its entire body will be set ablaze. If a sufficient amount of Pikmin are caught on fire, it will rear up and bear razor-sharp fangs before lunging at the searing Pikmin to eat them. To escape from the Garnet Urophibian's circle of pain, either wait for it to tire and break the circle up itself, or send Red Pikmin to pick at the creature's slender body with their stems, eventually causing it to lose its grip on its tail, extinguishing itself. Purple Pikmin can instantly unbind a Garnet Urophibian with their ground pound. Garnet Urophibians tend to hide behind gates, attacking when they break down. When defeated, it will coil up in a small pile, allowing for easy transport.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “In order to leave its prey helpless, this fanged amphibian has a catalyst-filled bladder within the tip of its tail. A tube connected to the organ runs through multiple pores on its skin and combusts when it leaves its body. Prey located, it ensnares the small animal with its body and bites down onto its tail, causing the catalyst to flow through its body and out of its pores, setting the urophibian on fire. Once its prey is either fatally burnt or asphyxiated from the ensuing smoke, it will bear its fangs and go in for the kill. Its internal body heat also gives it the advantage of a natural immunity to most diseases.”
Louie's notes
- “After you pull the organ out from its throat, slice and dice its slender body and throw it into hummus. Male specimens have a slight hint of hot cinnamon.”
Ship's comments
- “If you can bear the ring of fire this creature sets, then I envy you. I fear my metal's on the brink of melting every time it happens.”
