The Citrusy Breadbug is a breadbug appearing in Pikmin: Elemental Speciation. It has yellow skin, a long, flat body similar in appearance to a lemon bar, and a coating of white powder on top of itself. The powder generates and stores massive amounts of static electricity that discharges with stimulated, electrocuting all Pikmin except Yellow Pikmin in contact with it. Additionally, the creature leaves a trail of the powder in its wake as it explores its surrounding environment, electrocuting any Pikmin that tread on it. Upon being slammed into the ship or an Onion, the creature's powder is shaken off, releasing a surge of electricity. Afterward, however, it is flipped upside-down for some time, becoming temporarily vulnerable to attacks from any Pikmin type.
This creature's name is based on a combination of styfos, the greek word for tart, or bitter, and citrum, the latin word for citrus, or lemon.
Notes
Olimar's notes
- “This variant of breadbug has a distinctive bright yellow coloration and a rectangular body shape. This bright yellow color may serve as some sort of warning signal for predators to stay away from the electrifying powder it emits from its back, but I don’t know how many times I’ve had to keep Louie from trying to take a bite of these creatures.”
Louie's notes
- “Best enjoyed hot or cold, or just whenever you can get your hands on it. This delectable beast is easy to carry around and eat whenever, and its tangy taste will leave you wanting more. Be wary of shocks, though.”
Shacho's notes
- “This creature's meat could be an effective citrus flavoring agent, as long as we take proper precautions to disperse the static dust. Meh, that's too much work, I'm sure they won't mind.”
