The Elastic Mamuta is an enemy in Pikmin: Shipwrecked Stargazers. It is a golden yellow creature similar to the Mamuta with blue rings on it's body. It's eyes are giant and of a bright orange color. Most strikingly, it has numerous arms that end in hands shaped like rounded triangles, with orifices in the palms of each. This gives the creature an appearance similar to a Blue-ringed octopus.

They are most commonly found near water, but can survive both in or out of it. When in the presence of pikmin, the Elastic Mamuta will swat them away with long-ranged strikes from it's arms, which has a chance of deflowering them. If the pikmin get too close, it can shoot a purple colored toxic ink from the openings at the end of it's limbs. Similar to a Toady Bloyster's panic inducing ink, the Elastic Mamuta's poison travels farther in water than on land.

When defeated, the limbs of the Elastic Mamuta will retract, becoming little more than nubs on it's body.

Notes

Olimar's Notes

The Elastic Mamuta is a semiaquatic relative to the Mamuta named such due to it's outer skin, which has a texture similar to rubber and can stretch to rather impressive lengths. The orifices at the end of it's limbs are multi-purpose, functioning as both suction cups to make gripping easier, and openings to shoot their deadly toxins at potential threats and intruders. Although generally living out at sea, strange marks on tree bark imply they sometimes travel inland and even venture high into the canopies of coastal rainforests to find edible matter, like fruits!

Louie's Notes

I was really excited to try this one out, but sadly, the deadly ink in this beast's body completely taints it's flesh, making it inedible.

Trivia

  • The mid-right arm on the Elastic Mamuta's artwork was actually originally more outstretched, but a mistake made when cropping it forced it to be redrawn into the more curved shape it is now.
