Attacks Eats Pikmin, freezes Pikmin

The Icy Bulblax is an elemental bulblax that utilizes ice for its benefit. It has a cyan body that appears to be melting, black streaks running along the length of its back, a pair of eyestalks that support its differently-sized blue eyes, and a large mouth. The creature is usually found sleeping and will awaken when disturbed, giving chase to any nearby leaders or Pikmin it may see and attempt to attack them. If its prey flees, the Icy Bulblax will return to its resting spot to continue its slumber. The optimal way to kill an Icy Bulblax is to overwhelm it by swarming its backside with a large number of Cyan Pikmin. Should leaders have any form of ice resistance, they can punch one of these creatures to death without fear of being frozen.

Notes

Pikmin: Distant Planet

The icy bulblax is the cousin of the fiery bulblax. This chilly bulblax adapted from its cousin when the fiery bulblaxes were pushed from their environment by giga watery blowhogs. The area was so cold that they were forced to cool down. Then the giga watery blowhogs came and dowsed the bulblaxes. The water quickly froze and the first icy bulblax was made. They were made a new species but stayed with two traits of the fiery bulblaxes: the black back and the melted skin.

Yoshord's notes

As much sense as the more accepted theory makes, I prefer the theory that these are watery bulblaxes that are in a sub-zero area. Evidence supporting this is that watery bulblaxes are only found in warmer areas and icy bulblaxes are only found in cold areas, so it is entirely possible that the only difference between the two is whether their water attack freezes or not upon leaving the bulblax's body. Of course, moving a bulblax from one area to another is difficult, so I have been unable to melt an icy bulblax or freeze a watery bulblax. Analysis of the bulblax's ice coating will have to be done sometime.
