The Purple Candypop Bud is the second stage of an Mauve Onion's growth in Pikmin I, after the Purple Candypop Leaves. It evolved in the same environments as Amethyst Pikmin, forcing them to also camouflage.

- “This candypop bud has evolved in the same environment as Amethyst pikmin, making it mandatory to camouflage. It has even developped some transparency of amethyst shards. Instead of having a very remarkable smell, it's central pistil secretes an odor only remarkable by its prey–thus avoiding destruction by other organisms.”
