The Castorbite is an enemy in Pikmin 5: Apex Predator. It is a brown, bucktoothed rodent the size of a Flying Joustmite and with a large, flat tail. They are found primarily at the Lover's Garden but are not initially present. They only appear the day after a particular aboveground wall is taken down, and one or two are found at its location, rebuilding it and at least a third of the way done. Castorbites have two primary attacks: they either attempt to eat Pikmin with their buck teeth one at a time or swat down them and leaders with their massive tail several times. The material a Castorbite swats Pikmin with its tail on determines their fate, as they will be buried in soft ground, but be crushed on hard ground unless they are Rock Pikmin. The main strategy is to get behind the Castorbite, coaxing it into using its tail attack, then dodging out of the way and throwing Pikmin onto its back. This is a particularly good move because the Castorbite must perform multiple whacks, allowing for ample time to attack. This strategy requires only one or two cycles at most, and the Castorbite is dead. Delivering it to the Onion generates a fair number of Pikmin seeds. Olimar notes that Castorbites build their walls to attract mates.
