Ugh! They’re multiplying! – The ship, upon discovering the Cuboidiply

The Cuboidiply is a species of slabben in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. It resembles a large, gray cube comprised of stone, with many shallow cracks all over it. However, the interior is filled with many insects with a yellow coloration, six legs, and two antennas. The insects are small, around the size of a Pikmin.

The Cuboidiply will stand idly, resembling a large, immobile cube at first. Once Pikmin approach it, however, is when the large cube will spring to life. It will begin to pursue Pikmin by slowly turning to each side, crushing any Pikmin as it smashes down on each turn. If the Cuboidiply is damaged, its shell will slowly begin to crack even more. When it breaks, the cube will become fifteen miniature cubes, which are slightly larger than a Pikmin. These smaller Cuboidiplys move much faster and will slam their sides into groups of Pikmin as they move, depetaling them and flinging them around. If damaged further, the miniature Cuboidiplys will perish, with their stone exterior breaking and revealing their true insect form.

The Cuboidiply can be dangerous at first. Its rock shell can be damaged by any Pikmin, but a few types get the best results. Rock Pikmin, Weighted Pikmin, Purple Pikmin, and Dart Pikmin can all do extra damage to the shell, with the first two being immune to the blunt force of the slabben. A single Bomb Pikmin can easily destroy the cube shell, and can even kill all fifteen clones if another is used. Swarming the smaller cuboidiplies with a massive group of Pikmin is recommended.

In Overlord mode, the Cuboidiply is double its size, now around the size of an Emperor Bulblax. Each smash of the Cuboidiply will create a shockwave that knocks Pikmin away. When broken, thirty Cuboidiplys will appear.

Notes

  • P3 Data file icon.png Data file #1: The Cuboidiply is dangerous, but slow. Keep this in mind when fighting it!
  • P3 Data file icon.png Data file #2 (Overlord mode): The Cuboidiply can create shockwaves with its cube shell.

Olimar's notes

The Cuboidiply comes from a diverse species of insects that collect bits of debris from its environment to construct a hard exterior. They seem to travel in large groups due to their smaller size, all of them contribute by collecting hardened clay and stone to build their strong shell. Each kill of the creature is absorbed through small holes in the shell, and the juices of the slain creature are split equally between the insects. If the cube is broken, the Cuboidiplys will flee, before regrouping later on through sound signals they create.

Louie's notes

Remove the shell, and bake the creatures in an oven slathered in bread crumbs and butter. Drench the insects in honey glazing.

President’s notes

If only my employees would duplicate and increase my workforce when I whacked them on the head... a hard–working boss can dream!

Overlord’s thoughts

If you want to differentiate this guy from the Smashgren, just break their shell and count the bugs. Also the fact that the cube of a Cuboidiply is much larger, and not covered in moss.
