Dart Pikmin, also known as Almond Pikmin or Light-Brown Pikmin, are a Pikmin type appearing in Pikmin 2... Again?. They are an almond-colored species of Hermikmin that inhabit the shed needles of a species of tree known as the Dart Tree, known for its sharp needles, which will fall from the tree's branches after being replaced by new ones. Their limbs and eyes are visible, but because of the thorn's shape, the Dart Pikmin's stem is hidden inside the sharp end, and the tip glows when the Pikmin is idle. The base of the thorn is flat and woody, having remnants of the Dart Tree's bark. Due in part to their unique shape, when they are buried, Dart Pikmin are buried upside-down, their legs sticking out of the ground to be plucked from. Dart Pikmin have an above-average movement speed and average digging speed, but below-average carrying capacity, with two Dart Pikmin being required to carry something a single Pikmin could. Their most striking trait is that they can be thrown the farthest of all Pikmin, but only in a straight line, which can be beneficial or detrimental depending on various factors. Still, the benefits far outweigh the downsides, as Dart Pikmin inflict much damage, though not nearly as much as Rock Pikmin, pierce through enemies, and instantly destroy Flatberts. Upon colliding with solid material, a thrown Dart Pikmin will bounce off and fall to the ground, returning to the nearest leader afterward. Despite their body shape, Dart Pikmin can not destroy nets, which Claw Pikmin can, but bubbles will pop upon contact with them. As they lack an Onion, Dart Pikmin are obtained exclusively from the subterranean Wood Candypop Buds.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Dart Pikmin / Pikmin family / Pikminidae habispina. This Pikmin species has that sharp, pointy body. It is actually yet another "Hermikmin" inhabiting a species of tree needle, the Dart Tree. The tree has spiky thorns on the ends of its branches that eventually fall off as time passes, which can be dangerous for anything below. Dart Pikmin can enter on those just like the Rock Pikmin can enter rocks. They may appear to not have stems, but they do, and fit snuggly inside their needle. I have an idea for them, how about their stem being a tail? Anyways, they can walk slightly faster than other Pikmin, maybe due to their size. Uniquely, due to their sleek bodies, Dart Pikmin are best thrown in a straight line, like a javelin, rather than in an arc. Just like many other Pikmin I discovered so far, the Dart Pikmin are only obtainable from Canypop buds, in this case, subterranean Wood Candypop Buds. But maybe somewhere could be a candypop bud for all those types...? Maybe yes, maybe no.

Louie's notes

I had another dream, this time of a Bulborb flying... I don't know what it has to do with the Dart Pikmin. But maybe I could use them as barbecue skewers?

Cosmicaptain's thoughts

This is Dart Pikmin, he likes to swim! ...Oh wait, no, I made this story up. At any rate, I at first thought those had no stem but... I still don't know... I can't pluck them from their stem, only from their legs hilariously.

Javelin Pikmin are a bird-like, almond-colored Pikmin in Pikmin: The Dawn of Petals. These Pikmin have small wings, a long, sharp beak, and a flower tail. They are quite aerodynamic and can be thrown like spears, dealing great damage but being unable to attack again until they're whistled.

Dart Pikmin are beige and orange Pikmin in Pikmin: Dusk and Dawn that have thin bodies that taper to a point at the top. Their skin is a dark, brownish beige with dark spots. Their eyes are misaligned, giving them a somewhat humorous appearance. Their stem, unlike other Pikmin, is located on their lower backside, acting as a sort of tail. Due to their thin, lanky bodies, they have good aerodynamics, being thrown forward like a javelin, unlike how other Pikmin are thrown in an arc. When thrown at enemies, they deal great damage but become stuck in the process. The only way to get them off is to defeat the enemy. They, as well as Yellow Pikmin, are first found in Blossom Grove. If thrown at a metal enemy, they simply bounce off.

Because their stem acts as their tail, Dart Pikmin are buried upside-down, and thus their legs also protrude partially from the ground. Their eyes also blink separately, instead of both at once.

Notes

Olimar's notes

Dart Pikmin / Pikmin family. These pointy-headed Pikmin serve as great javelins. If I was stronger, I could apply for the Hocolympics, ha!

Louie's notes

Inedible, but can be used as toothpicks.

Why is it looking at me funny? Do I have something on my face?
