Domestication is the process of taming and breeding wild fauna in Pikmin Evolution for use in settlements. Several creatures can be tamed and brought to settlements so they can perform several functions. Some creatures provide rare materials, some help defend settlements from raids, and some can be taken to the field for use. Domesticated animals can be summoned via the Creature Call function on the Pikipad, which has the selected creature teleport in so it can perform its function. Taming animals can be a challenge as it is not always clear how to tame a creature and which are tamable. Oftentimes, no Pikmin should be brought within the vicinity creature so as to prevent it from being startled and attack. Some creatures need to be fed certain foods to placate them, requiring the collection and transportation of said food with the Pikipad's Item Storage function. After being fed, placated creatures can be caught and then brought to the nearest settlement, where they can be regularly fed and bred with others of their species. Sometimes taming creatures is more complicated, as there are moments when they must be exhausted from combat before they can be captured. Notable creatures that must be tamed through combat include the Gatling Groink and Wollywog. Regardless of how a creature is tamed, domestication allows better optimization of the production of resources and helps bolster defense both during raids and during standard expeditions.
