The Red Joongaird is a crimson-feathered relative of the Joongaird appearing in Pikmin: The Continents. They have the same diet and habitat as Joongairds, feeding on nectar and fruits, but strictly red fruits, and reside in holes in jungle trees. Each one also has a tail used to improve speed and steering while flying. The Red Joongaird shares the Joongaird's courtship dance, which it engages in with its partner during mating season; this particular one consists of both partners bobbing their heads for roughly twenty seconds. The female protects the chicks while the male searches for fruits for them to eat. Joongairds can not receive sustenance from nectar until they mature.
