Is that the president’s wallet? – The ship, upon discovering the Spotty Brown Flappak

The Spotty Brown Flappak is an enemy in Pikmin: Decayed Leaf. This Flappak, like most species of its family, resembles a wallet. The creature has a brown coloration, allowing it to blend in with the ground. Once it emerges, its two beady eyes and buck teeth will become visible.

Spotty Brown Flappaks can be found resting idle in dirt. It’s extremely hard to notice, as only a slightly raised patch of dirt will indicate where the Flappak is hiding. Once a Pikmin or captain walks over the Spotty Brown Flappak, it will burst from the dirt, sending anything that was standing on it flying away. The Flappak will hobble over to the nearest Pikmin immediately, and proceed to grab them and throw them into its mouth. It can eat up to four Pikmin at a time. If there are no Pikmin in its vicinity, it will return to its origin point and burrow back into the ground.

Spotty Brown Flappaks are very easy to take out. Simply throwing a Pikmin on them will take them out instantly. White Pikmin will be able to notice the Flappaks, and will alert the leaders of their location. If a Purple Pikmin, Weighted Pikmin, or frozen Statue Pikmin is on the Flappak, it won’t be able to jump from its position.

In Overlord mode, the Spotty Brown Flappak will occasionally vomit out a mix of soil and pebbles on the Pikmin to temporarily bury them for easy consumption.

Olimar's notes

The Spotty Brown Flappak is the most common Flappak that can be found in the environment. They seem to have developed a form of camouflage through their brown, rough skin. It helps that dirt seems to stick to its body due to the natural adhesive secretions it constantly emits from itself. It’s been speculated that the flappako family is a relative of the mollusk species, but that’s just a theory.

Louie's notes

Wash off the dirt, and use that sticky stuff found on this beast to attach your favorite fruits all over its body. The creature has a chocolate taste, so it pairs well.

President’s notes

MY WALLET IS ALIVE?!? Oh wait… it’s just a creature… phew! I thought my Pokos were running around somewhere!

Overlord’s thoughts

The ancient race once had these things called wallets. I guess this strange animal has adapted the form of the wallets of the past. I guess it works considering they use their floppy build to spring out of the ground and eat small insects. I’ll give them points for creativity.
