Stranded Pikmin are tanned or sunburnt Pikmin appear in The Return of Pikmin, where they are stranded on an island. By the time Captain Olimar and Louie find them, they are hunting for nectar. They pummel a giant egg only to find out it was that of a Smoky Progg, which immediately begins navigating to the landing site even though it is on the other side of the island. A leader without any Pikmin should stay with the Stranded Pikmin so they do not become lost, and visit the island with Blue Pikmin living on it. Despite being tanned, sunburnt Red Pikmin, Stranded Pikmin are considered their own species. They do not have an Onion of their so they must be stored in the ship.
