They are small crustaceans with a thin blue body and a noticeable square head, but despite this they are also dangerous stealth predators that live among areas with a rocky or tiled floor. They spend their time completely underground, disguising itself as a rock or tile that decorates where it lives, being indifferent to any large animal that steps on top of it. It does however hate when a something stands on it for a long period of time so when that does occur it pops out and bites whoever was standing on it, causing small damage and making the animal flee in terror. If you see a creature like a Red Bulborb suddenly jump up and run, a Tile Crusteroid may most likely be nearbye. When a small animal like a Mandiblard or Pikmin cross the Crusteroid's tile-shaped head it will shake violently and flip whoever is on it over, stunning it, then it will slurp everything around itself with it's thin tongue, eating them. This can lead to some surprise ambushes as one moment you'll be walking peacefully when all of a sudden something scattered all of your Pikmin and they the ground starts eating you Pikmin. But luckily you can surprise them as well by simply placing a bomb over themselves and the explosion will cause them to pop out and become vulnerable. Alternately you can place some Elixer Pikmin charged by fire over the Crusteroid as the explosions they make are capable of instantly killing the Tile Crusteroid, making them the best Pikmin type to use against the creature. All these factors together make the Tile Crusteroid an annoying enemy to face, which makes tricking it into getting blasted by an explosion all the more satisfying. Notably when killed the Tile Crusteroid only leave behind the tile or stone on it's head, which is light enough for a single Pikmin to carry.

The Tile Crusteroid is a species of crustelore appearing in Pikmin Evolution. They are small crustaceans with a thin blue body and a noticeable square head, but despite this, they are also dangerous stealth predators that live in areas with rocky or tiled terrain. They spend their time completely underground, disguising themselves as part of its surrounding terrain, being indifferent to any large animal that steps on top of it. It does, however, hate being stood on, even by enemies, and will break its disguise to bite whatever is on it, inflicting minor damage and making the animal flee in terror. When a small animal like a mandiblard or Pikmin crosses the crusteroid's tile-shaped head, it will shake violently, scattering and disorienting its prey before slurping them up with its thin tongue and eating them. This behavior can lead to confusing surprise ambushes for those unaware of a Tile Crusteroid's presence. Placing a bomb rock on top of them will give them quite a shock, the detonation blowing their cover and rendering them vulnerable. Alternatively, an arguably more effective tactic is to place some Elixer Pikmin charged with fire over a Tile Crusteroid, as the resulting explosion can instantly kill the creature, easily making them the optimal Pikmin to use against them. The Tile Crusteroid's behaviors make it an annoying enemy to face, which makes tricking it into getting blasted by an explosion all the more satisfying. Notably, when killed, the Tile Crusteroid only leaves behind the tile or stone on its head, which is light enough for a single Pikmin to carry.
